The Amir Chakhmaq Complex
The Amir Chakhmaq Complex, Six Windcatcher Reservoir, is located in the contemporary period in the city of Yazd, in the Six Windcatcher neighborhood. This building has two entrances (one in the north and the other in the south of the reservoir), six windcatchers, and a large reservoir with a capacity of two thousand cubic meters. This reservoir has fifty-five steps. The entrance to the reservoir is located in the southern part, and between its twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth steps, there is an octagonal brick-paved area, and the reservoir’s dome begins after this octagonal area. Its valve is also located at the northern entrance. The height of the water tank is 6 meters, and the height of the windcatchers is 10 meters. These reservoirs are among the facilities associated with qanats, which were used for storage in winter and for use in summer. This reservoir has six windcatchers, three of which were originally built, and three more windcatchers were later added to it.
